A Praise Priority Call (Psalms 47)

Hi church,
Psalms 47 is such a triumphant account, yet in David's triumph, he isn't loose-handed.
In fact, he loads the passage with direction, responsibility, and accountability for us, the followers of Jesus.

'Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples!
Shout to God with the voice of triumph!
For the LORD Most High is awesome;
He is a great King over all the Earth.
He will subdue the peoples under us, and the nations under our feet.
He will choose our inheritance for us, the excellence of Jacob whom He loves.
Selah. God has gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
For God is the King of all the Earth; sing praises with understanding.
God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy throne.
The princes of the people have gathered together, the people of the God of Abraham.
For the shields of the Earth belong to God; He is greatly exalted.'

Psalms 47:1-9 (NKJV)

Have you ever been in a place where something grabs your attention so much that it causes you to have a physical response?
It may be at a gig or the theatre, or it may be at a sports event or arts gallery.
Sometimes, it's the simple words of a family member that bring you to a point of physical response.

We were once in Devon on a holiday and we went to watch an open-air theatre performance.
Partway through the show, I looked at Becky and she was in floods of tears.
However, her tears had nothing to do with the theatre show; she was overcome with the expansive view of the ocean, which backed onto the theatre, and she had an absolute revelation of the love of God for her in that moment!

You see, God's love, God's power, and God's plans supersede anything that the natural world can offer us.
The 'world today' tells you that you are the most important thing; your popularity, your wealth, your needs, and your preferences - these are the things we should be pursuing!

However, David paints a different picture; he paints a picture of honour, a picture of respect, a picture that takes me out of my comfort zone in order to place Jesus in the limelight!

True service to God is a delight... something that we will never grow weary of, and the best part is singing praises to Him (this is our design and our make-up; we are created to worship, not be worshipped).

It's so good that we cannot get too much of it!
In heaven, we will worship night and day.
Our worship is inclusive of all...
'Clap your hands all ye people!'

The church of God is the greatest monarchy that the Earth will ever know!
The corruption of this world with its idolatry, infidelity, and its self-obsession, will be defeated and brought into line under His rule.

We submit our will, our choice, and our desire wholly to Him.
Our heritage here, and hereafter, we leave to Him.
Let God do with us what seems good to Him.

Here's how it breaks down for us today:
Our praise shapes our faith; our faith shapes our focus; and our focus shapes our actions.

Without praise, there's no real change.
As a church, as a believer, it's so important we learn how to engage in praise every day, in every season, as we serve our incredible King Jesus!

Your breakthrough starts with your praise.

Have the best day,
Joel Weaver.
