'Could you name
all these websites?'
17 Remember, it is sin
to know what you ought to do
and then not do it.
..... 'James 4:17. NLT
I came across an interesting article
the other day, which made me think,
so I would like to share it with you.
The graphic first
attention, it is
but the title
Could you name
all these websites?
I missed a few
so I'll describe
each sin and
website representing it.
1. Envy is the desire to possess
something that belongs to someone
else. i.e. Covetousness.
The website is Facebook - people stalk
their friends, stirring up jealousy by
describing what they have been doing
or what they have acquired.
2. While Sloth is sometimes
defined as physical laziness,
spiritual laziness can
also be included.
The website is Netflix,
which makes so many films and
television shows available
to the public that one could spend
the rest of one's life on the couch.
3. Greed is an excessive desire
for and pursuit of material
possessions. The website is eBay -
instant shopping comes full of deals
so we can purchase more...
and more .... and more.
Beware; may create shopaholics!
4. Pride is excessive belief in one's
own abilities and/or importance,
that interferes with an individual's
ability to recognise the grace of God.
It has been called the sin
from which all others originate.
The website is Twitter -
self promotion at its finest,
as people are constantly
tweeting their latest thoughts,
no matter how insignificant.
5. Gluttony is an inordinate
desire to consume more than one requires.
One of the many websites is Deliveroo -
food just a couple of keyboard strokes
away from this food delivery site.
6. Lust is an intentional seeking
for sexual stimulation outside marriage.
There is an industry in these sort
of websites; needless to say
I have no inclination in investigating
them - not even in interest of research -
7. Wrath is anger that one does not
seek to resolve in the spirit of Godly love.
This website, along with many others,
is 4chan.com (so I have read),
where users often attack other
websites and users.
13 No temptation has overtaken you
except what is common to mankind.
And God is faithful;
he will not let you be tempted beyond
what you can bear.
But when you are tempted,
he will also provide a way out
so that you can endure it.
.....1 Corinthians 10:13

to your perfect holiness
